Pricing
$12 a month. Or $120 a year.
One price. The gate is not tiered — a cheaper plan that judges your prose less carefully would be selling you a worse answer.
Nothing is charged yet. There is no billing, no card form and no subscription to cancel. This is what it will cost when payment exists; the product is free to use in the meantime, and you will never be charged without being asked first.
Monthly — planned
$12/month
Month to month. Nothing held back behind a higher tier.
Annual — planned, two months free
$120/year
The same product, at $10 a month.
No account, no card. Your work is saved in this browser — what that means.
What is included
- The full originality gate — 256 rules, marked at their spans, with your verdicts kept
- Text integrity across eleven classes, and English-only paste conversion
- Unlimited books and chapters
- Markdown export for a chapter or a whole book, round-trip tested
- Every measure, each with its own threshold — and never averaged into one number
How that compares
| Product | Annual price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| riter app | $120 (≈£95) | A gate for your manuscript. It never writes for you. |
| ProWritingAid | £120 | Grammar, style and critique, with generation tools. Also sells lifetime access at £399. |
| Novlr | ≈£151 | A writing environment — projects, notes, goals, community. Also sells lifetime co-ownership at $499. |
Vendor list prices read on 23 August 2026 from prowritingaid.com/pricing and novlr.org/pricing. Neither product was purchased and no feature of either was exercised; regional pricing, trials and discounts were not tested. Prices change — check the source.
We are at the market price, not above it. The difference is not cost, it is what the product is for: both of those help you produce more words. This one tells you whether the words you already produced still sound like you.
Honestly: both competitors are more complete products today. They have been built for years. What they do not have is a gate that judges your prose against your own writing rather than against a general standard.
Power-ups
Metered extras, bought only if you want them. Not yet available — listed so the pricing model is not a surprise later.
- Book cover generation. Image generation costs real money per image, so it is metered rather than folded into the subscription.
- Bring your own API key. Use your own model provider for higher rate limits and control over quota. This is not a discount — the subscription is the same $12. What it buys is control, not a lower bill.
Leaving
Export your manuscript as markdown at any time, a chapter or the whole book, with the round-trip proven by test. The ability to leave is a feature, and it ships before the ability to pay does.
